The most fun you can have rowing 24 kilometers!

SUNDAY, AUGUST 25TH | 7AM-NOON

What is Dam to Dam (D2D)?

D2D is Steel City Rowing Club’s annual fundraiser row. We are excited to again offer three course options: the Classic Dam to Dam Row (24k), Dam to Donuts Row (13k), and a Scrimmage Dam to Dam (24k). The classic options will follow the tradition of keeping the event relaxed and un-timed whereas the scrimmage will be timed. Choose the event that suits your goals, then join us afterward at a potluck with complimentary food truck to connect with and celebrate the incredible rowing community in the region. Seats are limited, and t-shirts are only guaranteed for registrants through the early registration deadline, so make sure to register today!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Of course! We welcome all contributions. This event is entirely volunteer-run, and serves as a fundraiser for Steel City Rowing Club. 100% of the funds we raise at Dam to Dam go towards the event, maintaining our facility, and programming to fulfill our mission.

  • Dam to Donuts: The course will begin in the down river direction, from the top of Sycamore Island to the Highland Park Dam. Upon traveling just through the railroad bridge at Aspinwall, crews will spin and row up river, back to the dock. This event is relaxed and is a 13 kilometer distance.

Dam to Dam: The course will begin in the down river direction, from the top of Sycamore Island to the Highland Park Dam. Upon traveling just through the railroad bridge at Aspinwall, crews will spin and row up river to the Cheswick Dam through the Turnpike bridge. From there crews will spin to finish the final leg down river to the top of Sycamore Island. This event will be split into two groups: a relaxed group and a timed scrimmage group. You can choose which one is best for you at registration.

  • Bring anything you would normally bring for a long row in the summer. Some suggestions:

    • Water bottle (non metal)

    • Sun protection

    • Quick snacks for the row

    • Any medications you might need on the water

    • Food to share in the potluck (optional for non-members)

  • No problem! We expect that most rowers will sign up for the classic non-competitive option, as offered in previous years. The scrimmage is just for a handful of people who are looking for a unique challenge. However, we are happy to also provide elapsed times to Classic event participants who are interested.

  • Boats will be launched in quick succession. Your time will start once you shove off and will stop when you dock. Boats will be required to adhere to all course and safety standards or face disqualification. Safety is more important than time!
