Dam to Dam 2024

Sunday, August 25th 7am - Noon

REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS FRIDAY, AUGUST 16th

Join us for the annual Steel City Rowing Club dam to dam fundraiser. We are excited to offer three course options this year: the classic dam to dam (24k), the classic dam to donuts (13k), and a scrimmage dam to dam (24k). The classic options will follow the tradition of keeping the event relaxed and un-timed whereas the scrimmage will be timed. Choose the event that suits your goals, then join us afterward at a potluck to celebrate our vast rowing community. Seats are limited, and t-shirts are only guaranteed for registrants through August 2nd, so make sure to register today!

FAQ

  • Yes! We welcome all contributions. This event is entirely volunteer-run, and serves as a fundraiser for Steel City Rowing Club. 100% of the funds we raise at Dam to Dam go towards the event, maintaining our facility, and programming.

  • Dam to Donuts: The course will begin in the down river direction, from the top of Sycamore Island to the Highland Park Dam. Upon traveling just through the railroad bridge at Aspinwall, crews will spin and row up river, back to the dock. This event is relaxed and is a 13 kilometer distance.

Dam to Dam: The course will begin in the down river direction, from the top of Sycamore Island to the Highland Park Dam. Upon traveling just through the railroad bridge at Aspinwall, crews will spin and row up river to the Cheswick Dam through the Turnpike bridge. From there crews will spin to finish the final leg down river to the top of Sycamore Island. This event will be split into two groups: a relaxed group and a timed scrimmage group. You can choose which one is best for you at registration.

  • Bring anything you would normally bring for a long row in the summer. Some suggestions:

    • Water bottle (non metal)

    • Sun protection

    • Quick snacks for the row

    • Any medications you might need on the water

    • Food to share in the potluck

  • No problem! We expect that most rowers will sign up for the classic options offered in previous years. The scrimmage is just for a handful of people who are looking for a unique challenge.

  • Boats will be launched in quick succession. Your time will start once you shove off and will stop when you dock. Boats will be required to adhere to all course and safety standards or face disqualification.

    • $50 for SCRC members

    • $65 for non-members
