Canadian Henley

Steel City Rowing’s Competitive Henley Camp is designed for rowers focused on achieving a high level of success at The Royal Canadian Henley. The practices are rigorous and led by top level coaches. During training, rowers will have the opportunity to refine their technique both in sculling and sweep boats, while building strength and endurance.  Athletes will be trained with on-the-water skill development, at least twice a day, plenty of video feedback and auxiliary physical and mental conditioning. All on site in our world class facility

Junior Camps [Ages 12-18]

WEEKLY Sessions

The Camps will introduce campers to the FUN-damentals of rowing and water safety by one of our USRowing certified coaches. Campers will progress from sweep rowing (one oar per person in 8 or 4 person boats) to sculling  (2 oars per person, in 4, 2 and 1 person boats) and have a lot of fun along the way.

Technical Rowing Camp 9:30AM - 12:00PM
Weekly Sessions

It is always good to get back to basics by refocusing our attention on technique, which in the end, will prove beneficial in moving the boat more efficiently down the course. After all who doesn’t want to work smarter, not harder? By weeks end rowers will have a better understanding of how to move the boat efficiently, application of power, blending with crew mates, and how proper techniques prevent injuries on or off the water. Row smarter, not harder!

Youth Camps [Ages 8-11]

WEEKLY Sessions

The antithesis to the busy school year, this camp is a meandering adventure exploring the Allegheny River and Sycamore Island.

Riverfun camps 12:30-3:30

Meets Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday on the given weeks.

The River Fun Camp offers needs based scholarships for children ages 8 to 11 upon approval from Steel City Rowing Club. Space is limited to 12 campers and is on a first come first serve basis.

Campers will explore the Allegheny River in kayaks and canoes while learning about the wildlife and ecosystems. Plenty of time for swimming and paddle boarding, too. An excursion to Sycamore Island is a camp highlight.

Safety is the primary concern of Steel City Rowing Club. We take every possible measure to ensure that everyone enjoys their time on the water. All campers wear personal flotation devices as required by State Law and Club policy. In addition, river and weather conditions are closely monitored by our experienced counselors. In stormy weather the camps will move into the boathouse community room for an afternoon of games and crafts.

Steel City Rowing Club reserves the right to cancel a camp due to lack of registrations. Advanced notice will be given if minimums are not met, and refunds will be given to anyone who'd already made a payment.
