Andrew Todd- Interim Head Coach
Andrew started rowing for Fox Chapel High School, and came to Steel City Rowing Club in his senior year. He went on to be on Yale Universty`s Lightweight men`s crew team. While at Yale, Andrew acquired a bachelors in economics. He has been coaching at Steel City since June 2015, and is a USRowing Certified Level 2 Coach
Sarah Humphrey- Executive Director
Sarah Humphrey was born in Pittsburgh and attended The Ellis and Winchester-Thurston Schools. She began rowing the summer before her 9th grade year and went on to be recruited by Syracuse University, where she continued to row, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2006. She completed her Master's degree in the History of Art, Architecture, and Archaeology at New York University in 2009. She joined the Steel City staff in October of 2017 as a juniors coach and Program Manager. She has nearly two decades of experience in the arts and education, at both the institutional level and in the private sector, and is a USRowing Certified Level II Rowing Coach. She is also an avid runner and general audiophile.
Lucy tuttle-Smith- Coach & Special Event Coordinator
Lucy graduated with a degree in Design from Carnegie Mellon. During her collegiate years she frequently kayaked the white waters of Western PA and Canada. Upon graduating she worked for McCann Erickson in New York City before going out on her own as a consultant designer for non-profits. She eventually ended up back in Pittsburgh with her husband where she continued her consulting work. With her history of kayaking, it was of little surprise when Lucy jumped on the opportunity for her and her two children to row. When the need arose for more hands on the water she took up coaching and went on to receive her Level III USRowing Certification. When she isn't coaching, she works in the office creating publication graphics for the many programs and camps offered and fundraising projects. She also helps with maintenance of the grounds of the club, utilizing native plants in keeping with our green facility.
Penelope Smith- Coach & office assitant
Penelope started rowing at Steel City when she was in middle school. She has coached and assisted in the office since 2011. Penelope is a recent graduate of Chatham University's MBA/MSUS (Master of Sustainability) program.
Patty MCAULIFFE- Coach
Patty works with 2 & 3 year olds at the Riverview Children's Center in Verona. She came to Steel City in 1997 and then worked with the youth camps and rows with the adult rowers. Patty is a certified Level III Coach and also holds certifications in CPR and First Aid. She enjoys reading and container gardening on her deck.
